Clinic Description:
The Challenge of Triathlon – Part 1
Most people come into the sport of triathlon dominant in one discipline but learn that cross-training helps them continue to achieve success in that sport while gaining additional capacity in and through the others. This clinic will address the fundamentals of triathlon including race distances, race anxieties, rules and terminology plus a number of “must-know” things about swimming, biking and running. No matter whether you’re just thinking about doing a triathlon or have already begun your triathlon journey, this clinic will help you understand why triathlon is one of the fastest growing sports in the world.
The Challenge of Triathlon – Part 2
How much endurance is enough? Training for a triathlon can seem overwhelming - so much to do and so little time. This clinic will discuss the importance of having a “fitness budget” and the value of developing race-specific goals and training objectives. Time will be spent on the fundamentals of training plan design and how to address sport-specific strengths and weaknesses plus how to measure performance and monitor fitness improvements over time.
